Frenum

Frenum: A membranous fold that attaches the cheek, lips, and tongue to the surrounding oral mucosa. The frena on this model of a maxillary edentulous arch are highlighted in blue.

Furcation

Furcation: The anatomic area of a multirooted tooth where the roots diverge.

Succadaneous Teeth

Succadaneous Teeth: The permanent teeth that replace primary (deciduous) teeth once they exfoliate (fall out). There are a total of 20 succadaneous teeth: 4 central incisors, 4 lateral incisors, 4 canines, and 8 premolars.
